Nach eigenen Aussagen ist das Edel-Latitude Z600 eines der dünnsten und leichtesten Modelle im 16-Zoll Segment. Special-Features wie kontaktloses Aufladen durch Induktion sowie die Verfügbarkeit einer Wireless-Docking Station sollen das Notebook zu einem Luxus-Gut für betuchte Laptop-User machen.

Dell Latitude Z600

Latitude On, das integrierte Linux Betriebssystem, erscheint mit dem Z600 endlich auf dem Markt. Dell hatte es bereits im August 2008 angekündigt aber immer wieder verschoben. Mit diesem Zweit-OS kann der User ins Internet gehen (Browser) oder seine E-Mails abrufen (Exchange Server 2003 unterstützt) ohne dabei den Intel SU9400/SU9600 und das Windows OS zu nutzen. Der Verbrauch des Systems im System liegt bei einen Watt (ohne TFT-Panel).

Dell Latitude Z600
Laut Lisa Holmes, Produkt Manager Latitude UK/Irland, besitzt das Latitude Z600 eine sehr hochwertige Anmutung. Käufer brauchen demnach trotz des 16-Zoll Formfaktor kein wackeliges Gehäuse befürchten.

Die Akkulaufzeit soll mit dem 4-Zellen Akku bei 4 Stunden (Windows) bzw. 16 Stunden (Latitude On, Linux) liegen. Das Dell Latitude Z600 kann ab sofort bei Dell online bestellt werden. Der Preis beginnt bei 1.499 Euro.
