After the good marks of the Dell Studio 17, we have yet to find out if the Dell Studio 15 is an image of itself on a smaller scale, or if its name is just smoke and mirrors when compared to its bigger brother. This 15.4 inch multimedia device proposes to prove itself worthy with a great design, workmanship and display.


Apart from being great to work with, the new offering from Dell is designed to look great as well, and the coloured lid and design elements add a special touch to the overall simple design. Particularly nice is the wine-red rubber edging around the frame of the display, adding grip. Our test device also had a glossy grey imprint finish to it. What may look like dried beverage stains at first glance turns out to be the print of a geographical map on the lid and palm rest area.

Interactive cylindrical hinges! An illuminated wireless sniffer and LED power switch are located here. Additional multimedia controls are to be found on the Media-Panel.

Here, illuminated soft touch keys allow for easy access to DVD and music options, but also control over the slot-in disc drive.

This device features raised keys. This can be an advantage for frequent writers, but turns out to be impractical in this model, due to the immediate rebound of the keys. The 17 inch Dell Studio's keyboard had a slightly better handling. The touchpad's performance however, is flawless.



Standard ports have been integrated with this device: VGA, USB, HDMI, Firewire und powered USB. A fingerprint reader is also the standard repertoire here as is the hardware switch for wireless and bluetooth.

Aktuelle Note: ausreichend  Erklärung

Was ist eine Aktuelle Note?
Notebookjournal errechnet jede Nacht eine Aktuelle Note. Das ist die Note nach den derzeit gültigen Maßstäben. Sie zeigt an, ob sich ein älteres Modell noch wacker hält oder ob es bereits eine Vielzahl besserer Notebooks gibt. Letzteres ist der Fall, wenn die Aktuelle Note niedriger als die ursprüngliche Note ist.

Es geht um die Vergleichbarkeit
Mit der technischen Weiterentwicklung müssen sich Notebooks an immer höheren Maßstäben messen. Erreichten Gaming 17-Zöller Ende 2006 höchstens 5500-3DMarks06, so waren es Ende 2007 schon 9200! Ein sechs Monate altes Sehr-Gut kann also nicht mit einem Sehr-Gut von vor einer Woche verglichen werden.

Aus Gründen der Vergleichbarkeit haben wir uns auch im Vergleich (Link) für die Nutzung der aktuellen Note entschieden.
